The Shifting Tides and Moving Forward

It’s been an eventful Sunday morning here. I’ve worked Whiz!Bam!Pow! chapter five into submission, and shifted a few things around to make navigation between my multiple sites work easier. So here’s what I propose: I steal a few minutes of your time, and you like it. How’s that work for you?

The Sites

Between my two projects (Whiz!Bam!Pow! and my upcoming book from Focal Press, Comics for Film, Games, and Animation: Using Comics to Construct Your Transmedia Storyworld), plus this site, my work is spread out over three sites, and my own penchant for interlocking them is confounding even to me. So, I’ve streamlined the sites and defined porpoise. Purpose. Right.

Tyler-Weaver.com – this is my main home. It’s the one on my business cards, and it’s the one that’s got my name on it. But, it’s more of a starting point than an all-inclusive destination. Here’s what you’ll find here:

In short, I want to make this site an extension of me, and my interests nowadays rarely revolve around dispensing writing advice. And unless it’s a news item related to Whiz!Bam!Pow!, all pieces concerning WBP will show up at…

Whiz!Bam!Pow! dot com – The home of my baby, Whiz!Bam!Pow!  Since May 11, I’ve been churning out new installments on a (mostly) weekly basis. Whiz!Bam!Pow! – defined by me as “a transmedia story experience of family, death rays, slot machines, forgery, laundry chutes, secret codes, & the Golden Age of Comics” — will continue throughout the summer. Here are all the pieces so far:

Additionally, Whiz!Bam!Pow! dot com will include a Whiz!Bam!Wha? series of “Behind the Scenes” articles on all sort of things about WBP.  Every three weeks, I take a week off to prepare the next installment of the radio show. In that “off week” comes a new Whiz!Bam!Wha? article. Everything related to Whiz!Bam!Pow!, including blogs, news articles written by awesome people, and of course, new installments, will live at Whiz!Bam!Pow! dot com.

ComicStoryworld Dot Com

If Whiz!Bam!Pow! is my baby, my upcoming book for Focal Press, Comics for Film, Games, and Animation: Using Comics to Construct Your Transmedia Storyworld is, well, my other baby. Comicstoryworld, as I call it for short, hits shelves in the Fall, and is currently available for preorder at Amazon and Barnes and Noble. That’s right, a for really-real book with new book smell and my name on it. It’s a ridiculously cool feeling!

Anyhow, the site, comicstoryworld.com is still a work in progress. But in the coming months, I’m building it up. There, you will find new articles about the state of the comics industry, transmedia, and storytelling, plus interviews from the book, and interviews that will end up in the second edition of the book.

Before I go any further, both pieces of art for Whiz!Bam!Pow! and ComicStoryworld come from Blair Campbell. I’m thrilled also that he and I’ve made up a new character that shows up in the pages of ComicStoryworld (check the wastebasket in Whiz!Bam!Pow!).

Also, all pieces of Whiz!Bam!Pow! will be promoted in the sidebar of this site as they arrive (including being able to listen to the radio show from the sidebar). Additionally, you can pre-order ComicStoryworld from Amazon and B&N from there as well.

So, I hope this clears things up for you. I know it clears it up for me. And as always – thanks so much for supporting my work. This growing community is a wonderful thing, and I look forward to chatting with each of you at some point or another. Have a brilliant weekend!  - T
